Uptown Bounce: ROOTS
Wednesday, July 30 from 6:00 – 9:00 pm

Join the City Museum and El Museo del Barrio for ROOTS—the kick-off event in our summer series—featuring music, gallery talks, art workshops, breakdancing, summer drinks, and local food. At the City Museum, groove to hip hop beats with DJ Tony Touch and Latin rhythms by congas player Chico Cruz on the terrace, then learn about graffiti’s influence on hip hop through our City As Canvas exhibition. At El Museo del Barrio, stop by for a studio visit in our galleries and a conversation with folkorist Elena Martínez from City Lore. Famed Puerto Rican DJ duo D’Marquesina will spin old school new school in El Café.

Admission is free, open to visitors of all ages; advance registration is required. This program also takes place on Wednesdays, August 6 and August 13.
