Storefront Takes Over NYC Subways

If you remember one of my previous posts about the Uniqlo pop-up at Union Square, (read it here: http://terresaling.blogspot.com/2013/10/oct-25th-uniqlo-opens-new-store-at.html,) or some of you might have attended Storefront's Pop-Up Launch Party (http://poppinbottles.thestorefront.com/), I have some more interesting news for you.

Storefront is now taking over the NYC Subways. Read below for more information.

Their site, www.thestorefront.com, is not only handy for those looking for a space to pop up in, but for the rest of us who enjoy cool events, it is also a great resource to find all the hidden gem locations of potential pop-ups popping up in the city. Go take a lookie!  

Storefront Partners with the Metro Transit Authority to Offer Retail Space in New York Subways

New York, NY - December 9, 2013 - Storefront (www.thestorefront.com), the online marketplace that connects artists, designers, and brands with retail space, is announcing today that it has partnered with the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority to offer unique retail space for rent in the New York City Subway.

“Our partnership with Storefront reflects MTA’s commitment to pushing the bounds of vibrancy in the subway,” says David Bosch, MTA Director of Leasing and Acquisitions. “Storefront helps us rent out our space by connecting us to local artists, designers and brands to access over 5.3 million daily subway riders.

Storefront already has hundreds of listings in New York that can be rented by the day, week or month -- including space inside established retail stores and booths at markets and events -- and MTA will add another 10 from their portfolio, which in total grosses over $70 million every year.

“MTA retail spaces bring a unique foot traffic advantage to the Storefront platform,” says Erik Eliason, CEO and co-founder of Storefront. “I call it the eyeball factor. After all, foot traffic is a necessity for retailer success, and we aim to set our vendors up for profitability.”

Oct 25th Uniqlo Opens New Store at Atlantic Terminal BK and Pop-Up in Union Square!

Beginning mid-month, Uniqlo will open a pop-up store within the Union Square subway station. Located at the east end of the station, the temporary store will sell winter gear including the brand's $50 puffer jackets and HeatTech layers. Huge perk: every purchase earns a free $5 MetroCard. The pop up is open through Christmas.  

Also be on the lookout for the Atlantic Terminal's Uniqlo grand opening on the 25th for giveaways and deals.

Update: 10/24/13, the Uniqlo at Atlantic Terminal is opening at 10am tomorrow with Free limited edition tote bags, promotional items and special live performances. The celebrations continue throughout the weekend.

Update: 10/29/13, if you have been having trouble finding the Uniqlo popup above ground like I have, you just might need to go beneath the surface. The popup is actually in the east end of the Union Square location. See if you can find it!
