Join hundreds of cultural institutions across the country on Saturday, March 12, 2016 for Museum Day Live! when the Smithsonian Institution celebrates a nationwide campaign to reach women and girls in underserved communities.

Held during Women's History Month, this “special edition” of Smithsonian’s signature “Museum Day Live!” event* will encourage all people, and particularly women and girls of color, to explore their nation’s museums, cultural institutions, zoos, aquariums, parks and libraries—which will offer free admission for the day.

Available January 4th, 2016, to receive your free Museum Day Live! ticket for two guests only, please register for an account. Once registered, you can request a ticket to one participating venue. The ticket will be available to download immediately up to the date of the special event. You must print your ticket and present it to receive your free admission or have it accessible on your mobile device (pending museum participation).

The Museum Day Live! Ticket provides free admission for two people on Saturday September 27th.

In the spirit of Smithsonian Museums, who offer free admission everyday, Museum Day Live! is an annual event hosted by Smithsonian magazine in which participating museums across the country open their doors to anyone presenting a Museum Day Live! ticket… for free.

List of 2014 participating museums

Know before you go:

• One ticket for two people only
• One ticket per valid email address
• One ticket will gain entry only in the museum listed on this page
• Ticket must be presented for free general admission to one venue and is good for two people. 
• *Not valid for special exhibits, parking, IMAX film screenings or with any other offer

• Only an official Museum Day Live! ticket is eligible for free entry
• If a museum reaches capacity, the museum has the right to limit guests until space becomes available
• The ticket is only valid on Museum Day Live! September 27, 2014
• As a gift for participating in Museum Day Live, you will receive the digital edition of Smithsonian magazine free for one year with no obligation, beginning with the October edition. You may opt our of receiving this edition at any time.

9/27 - CELEBRATE THE FASHION, FOOD & ART OF TAIWAN WITH SMITHSONIAN MAGAZINE’S MUSEUM DAY LIVE!

SEPTEMBER 27, 2014
11AM - 2PM
VANDERBILT HALL

Smithsonian Magazine's Museum Day Live! and the Taiwan Tourism Bureau will celebrate Taiwan with an event in Vanderbilt Hall at Grand Central Terminal from 11am – 2pm. Amb. Paul Chang, Director General of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York will welcome guests at the opening of the event, which will feature the following acts on stage:

•   Food demonstration from Easy House Taiwanese Restaurant
•   A performance from Third Prince, a traditional dance troupe
•   A Taiwanese Aboriginal dance performance
•   A performance by Taiwanese singer Ya Han Chang
•   A performance by Mr. OH Bear
•   Fashion show featuring original works by Taiwanese fashion designers Malan Breton and Alexander King Chen

and event partners will be present, offering traditional Taiwanese craft demonstrations as well as food sampling.

Vendors on hand to distribute brochures:

•    Taiwan Tourism Bureau
•    China Airlines
•    EVA Airways

Free demonstrations and sampling include:

•  Calligraphy and fan painting
•  Taiwanese vegetarian noodle sampling
•  Bubble tea sampling
