It's that time of year again, time for the battle! And by battle we're referring to the NYC X SWE (NYC vs Sweden) Holiday Ping Pong Tournament. This year its taking place at Streetbird and being co-presented by Streetbird owner / celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson ‪#‎NYCXSWE2016‬ This event is a holiday soirée dressed up as a ping pong tournament. It was born from the collaboration between NYC and our NYC-based Swedish network. We opt to throw a tie-less suit-less holiday party where you are actually meant to loosen up. Years of connections in the nightlife, music and entertainment business make this the must-attend event of the winter year after year. Anything can happen. A night to remember. A soirée full of smiles, toasts, celebrities, and great friends. It’s become a recognizable event by trendsetters and party goers as a welcoming of the holidays. Your generous donations help us provide crucial support to local teams. Doors open at 5pm while Kobayashi will begin at 6pm sharp. This is a free event and open to everyone.

In honor of the National Day of Unplugging, SPiN is asking patrons to voluntarily hand their electronics and connect with friends and family. By inviting guests to Unplug and Play, SPiN is also providing opportunities for at-risk youth. In return for guests checking their phones with the club’s smartphone concierge, SPiN will not only provide 30 minutes of free table time. For every checked phone SPiN Foundation will donate $10 to MUSIC UNITES, which connects disadvantaged kids through music. 
The ping-pong club shares a mission parallel with that of the National Day of Unplugging: to provide a means to connect with family, friends and colleagues through real world interactions. The Unplug and Play evening not only offers guests a way to interact in a very SPiN-fun way, but also provides a channel to raise awareness and funds for an organization that creates real and authentic experiences for kids through music education.

It’s on again!

The 3rd annual NYC X SWE Holiday Ping Pong tournament.  For those of you unfamiliar with this event, for the last couple of  years we’ve teamed up with our Swedish partner companies RMH Records, BAM Let’s do this and Art by OKOK to put on a Ping Pong Tournament between our NYC friends, and our Swedish friends who live in NYC.

This year we’ve partnered with Urbanears & Trollbäck + Company to put this on. Urbanears is known for making headphones that fit your everyday life. Trollbäck + Company is the coolest design studio in town and just happens to be Swedish owned. Check out their website and Facebook page.

We’ve also added a great cause to this event thanks to Autistic Love Society.

Many of the participants are recognizable faces in industries such as music, nightlife, restaurant, TV, film, art and fashion.  This originally started of as a silly idea to bring some cool people together in a fun nostalgic competitive event. It’s become a real competition with some participants flying into NYC from Sweden.

After last year’s Swedish victory, NYC is thirst for revenge. The competition is between 8 NYC teams and 8 Swedish teams. Each team is hand selected and comprised of a guy and a girl.

Last year Marcus Samuelsson’s Red Rooster team won the championship for the Swedish team. No matter who you are rooting for though – come enjoy some Sunday evening fun with friends and great music, courtesy of DJ Wonder.

Who knows who you’ll meet under the mistletoe.

On July 27, 2014, Eventsy held a ping pong social at Spin New York.
The group hung out at the bar area first to social before hitting the tables.
We decided to get a group photo first, later more folks trickled in and joined in the fun.



We had 3 tables to ourselves.  Here, I'm ping-ponging with a master lefty!



This looks intense! I have yet to play either of you! Next time...



There was also complimentary Hint Water to hydrate.

We had 2 hours to play all we want at a very affordable price thanks to Eventsy! Only $12 for nonmembers and $7 for members. Normal pricing would have cost as much as $50!

 

There was also a raffle for a free SPIN session and a Free Eventsy annual membership, worth $365 - which gives members exclusive discounts to events throughout the city, as well as other perks. Here I took a photo of this before returning it to the winner.

Balls are definitely his business - thanks for being a great ping-pong ball picker-upper.
