RECAP - Orange is the New Black Pies and Free Ice Cream!

Have you had the chance to snag the free pies and ice cream from the "Orange is the New Black" truck yet?

If not, here is what to expect:

This is how the truck looks like! Finger-lickin' good

Hello, cardboard cutout! This was before the rain attacked!

Apparently, this is what they call a "pie"
It looks like an empanada to me, haha

FYI, these are the ingredients in said pie, so make sure you're not allergic to any
Also note that little pie is like 300+ calories
This is how the soft serve cone looks like
It melts extremely quickly even in this cool, rainy weather
Beware of drippin' ice cream down one arm

Oh and it's half vanilla and half chocolate

They have the prison theme going

Looking ahead of the mini line - people will open umbrellas to get freebies

Man, it was such a huge downpour, that the cardboard needed an umbrella!

They were also passing out temporary tattoos

If you plan on checking out the Orange is the New Black truck, you have two more days, - check the locations and schedule here: http://bit.ly/1nxkDPs

And because it was also the last day of Shake Shack's Decade of Shack with their special burgers and it was just right around the corner...

I had to take a peek to see what the rain did to the line.

Looks like this little doggie is headed for the Shack

Alas, the ping pong table is free
Bummer, no one to play with!

There is however a line of folks with their lovely umbrellas
waiting undeterred
I presume this is the shortest line out of the 5 days!

Enjoy,
Terresa =)

6/9-6/13 - Decade of Shack Culinary Collaborations & Shack-Fest with Pay-What-You Wish Shack-cago Dogs and Free Dominique Ansel Cakes! Ping Pong!

Raise your shakes high! Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group (USHG) will celebrate Shake Shack’s 10th Anniversary with a week-long series of culinary collaborations and birthday bash at the original Shake Shack in New York City’s Madison Square Park, which opened in June 2004.

Drawing on its fine dining heritage and deep culinary roots, Shake Shack is teaming up with an all-star group of iconic chefs to create five special edition burgers that will be exclusively available at the Madison Square Park Shack.
Throughout the celebratory week, one culinary collaboration burger will be available each day from a different chef. The burgers will sell for $8.50 each, and Shake Shack will donate $1.00 from each burger sold to the Madison Square Park Conservancy and NYC Parks.

On June 12th the Madison Square Park location will host the Decade of Shack-Fest. Open to the public, it will be a fun-filled, all day celebration featuring live music. As a tribute to the early days of Shake Shack, a special hot dog cart will be on-site serving complimentary “pay what you’d like” Shack-cago Dogs with all proceeds benefiting the park, while supplies last.
To help guests work up an appetite, a HENGE concrete ping pong table will be setup on the gravel near the Shack, with Shack paddles and balls readily available for guests to use throughout the day.
Every birthday party needs a cake, and that’s where Dominique Ansel comes in. A member of the extended Shake Shack family, the inventive pastry chef will craft an epic Shack-inspired cake that will be given out to guests free-of-charge in the early evening, while slices last.

To wash down all the sweet and savory deliciousness, Shake Shack teamed up with longtime partner Brooklyn Brewery on a special edition collaborative beer called SHACK X IPA. On tap now through Labor Day at all US Shacks, it is a brand new IPA recipe created exclusively for Shake Shack that boasts a hearty reddish-copper hue with hints of caramel and roasted malt. On June 12th at the Madison Square Park Shack only, SHACK X IPA will be served in a commemorative Decade of Shack 16oz. cup that guests can keep. Cheers!
