5th Annual Holiday Ping Pong Tournament - NYC vs SWE!

NYC X SWE

Socialight Entertainment

Sunday, December 11, 2016 at 6PM

RSVP HERE!
It's that time of year again, time for the battle! And by battle we're referring to the NYC X SWE (NYC vs Sweden) Holiday Ping Pong Tournament. This year its taking place at Streetbird and being co-presented by Streetbird owner / celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson ‪#‎NYCXSWE2016‬ This event is a holiday soirée dressed up as a ping pong tournament. It was born from the collaboration between NYC and our NYC-based Swedish network. We opt to throw a tie-less suit-less holiday party where you are actually meant to loosen up. Years of connections in the nightlife, music and entertainment business make this the must-attend event of the winter year after year. Anything can happen. A night to remember. A soirée full of smiles, toasts, celebrities, and great friends. It’s become a recognizable event by trendsetters and party goers as a welcoming of the holidays. Streetbird 2149 Frederick Douglass Blvd All this fun goes towards raising money and awareness for Mission North! Help us make a difference. Your generous donations help us provide crucial support to local teams. Together we can subsidize expensive participation fees, offer shoes and clothing, gear, and other necessary supplies to children in New York's most underserved communities. http://www.mission-north.org/ We'll be raffling off some great prizes to raise money for Mission North. Here's a list of a few of the raffle items. + Two complimentary 3 month memberships to The Sports Center at Chelsea Piers. + A package of 3 sessions for 2 people at Higher Dose infrared sauna. + A free training session for 2 with personal trainer / MMA fighter Garnett Strother + Gift cards to both Streetbird & Red Rooster. + Gift cards to Spin NYC (Ping Pong Club). + and more...

Have a blast,
Terresa =)

9/10 - Watch the US Open for Free!

REPOST from usopen.org:

FREE GROUNDS ADMISSION SEPT. 10

Bob and Mike Bryan during the Men's Doubles Championship against Marcel Granollers and Marc Lopez in Arthur Ashe Stadium.
By E.J. Crawford
Thursday, August 13, 2015
For the first time during the two weeks of the US Open, anyone and everyone will have a chance to watch the world’s toughest tennis free of charge – live and in person.
The 2015 US Open will be offering free grounds admission to fans on the event’s second Thursday, Sept. 10. The day’s action will be filled with play in men’s, women’s and mixed doubles – including semifinal action in men’s and women’s doubles – as well as junior and wheelchair competition and the semifinals of the Champions Invitational, a showcase of former Grand Slam tournament champions or finalists.
The free grounds admission will also enable fans to watch the second year of the American Collegiate Invitational, which features the top American collegiate tennis players facing off for a potential wild card into the 2016 US Open or 2016 US Open Qualifying Tournament.
Play will begin at 12 p.m. ET on Sept. 10, with the gates opening at 11 a.m.
Fans are also invited to stay to watch the evening’s women’s singles semifinals, scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. ET, on the video screens throughout the grounds. A purchased ticket is necessary to gain access to Arthur Ashe Stadium for the women’s semifinals. (There will be no play in Arthur Ashe Stadium during the day.)
The free grounds admission was made possible by a change in the schedule for the 2015 US Open. This year, the Open is returning to a 14-day plan, with a day of rest between the men’s and women’s singles semifinals and finals. That means the final four days of the event will feature the women’s semifinals Thursday night, the men’s semifinals Friday, the women’s final Saturday afternoon and the men’s final Sunday afternoon.
Entry is also free during the US Open Qualifying Tournament, held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, Aug. 25-28.

Enjoy,
Terresa =)

NY, NY

It’s on again!

The 3rd annual NYC X SWE Holiday Ping Pong tournament.  For those of you unfamiliar with this event, for the last couple of  years we’ve teamed up with our Swedish partner companies RMH Records, BAM Let’s do this and Art by OKOK to put on a Ping Pong Tournament between our NYC friends, and our Swedish friends who live in NYC.

This year we’ve partnered with Urbanears & Trollbäck + Company to put this on. Urbanears is known for making headphones that fit your everyday life. Trollbäck + Company is the coolest design studio in town and just happens to be Swedish owned. Check out their website and Facebook page.

We’ve also added a great cause to this event thanks to Autistic Love Society.
Many of the participants are recognizable faces in industries such as music, nightlife, restaurant, TV, film, art and fashion.  This originally started of as a silly idea to bring some cool people together in a fun nostalgic competitive event. It’s become a real competition with some participants flying into NYC from Sweden.

Click here to watch video from last year’s event.

After last year’s Swedish victory, NYC is thirst for revenge. The competition is between 8 NYC teams and 8 Swedish teams. Each team is hand selected and comprised of a guy and a girl.

Last year Marcus Samuelsson’s Red Rooster team won the championship for the Swedish team. No matter who you are rooting for though – come enjoy some Sunday evening fun with friends and great music, courtesy of DJ Wonder.

Who knows who you’ll meet under the mistletoe.

If you want to check out or partake in all the trash talking, visit the Facebook event page. Feel free to contribute.
