The New York Philharmonic’s 2013 opening gala concert features music director Alan Gilbert and special guest cello soloist Yo-Yo Ma. The concert features dance-inspired orchestral works, including Azul by Osvaldo Golijov, a cello concerto written for Ma; the world premiere of an arrangement of Astor Piazzolla’s La serie del Ángel by Octavio Brunetti, commissioned by the New York Philharmonic; and a classic by Maurice Ravel, Alborada del gracioso. 
A free screening presented by Queens Theatre and Lincoln Center Education.
Queens Theatre is partnering with Lincoln Center Education to present free outdoor screenings of some of the most impactful Lincoln Center performances of these past three years. The screenings will take place every Tuesday of August at 8:00 p.m. in Flushing Meadows Corona Park on the Festival Site right behind Queens Theatre. The chosen performances will reflect Lincoln Center’s eclectic programming as well as the borough’s diverse population. The performances will be projected on a 26' screen on the festival site in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, right behind Queens Theatre. In case of inclement weather, the screenings will be held on Queens Theatre's main stage. You are more than welcome to bring your own chair, blanket, picnic, and as many friends as you want!

To celebrate Hennessy’s 250th anniversary, The Hennessy 250 Tour features internationally-recognized artists whose works evoke the brand’s legacy and expertise. Performances choreographed by Jonah Bokaer, performed by Tal Adler Arieli, Reed Tankersley, Lilja Ruriksdottir, Callie Lyons, and set design by Daniel Arsham.

The Hennessy 250 Tour will bring a hybrid cultural event, featuring a traveling exhibit and original live performances by some of Julliard’s most talented performers. New York City marks the third and only U.S. stop, and will take visitors behind-the-scenes through original installations, video, portraits and artwork. 

Occupying more than 12,000 square feet of gallery space at Lincoln Center, the experience will offer a 360° perspective on Hennessy’s past, present and future, as rendered in carte blanche creations illustrating the powerful bonds between Hennessy and New York City.

Put on those dancing shoes and shimmy on over to Lincoln Center this Thursday evening for a FREE dance class with Ailey Extension instructor Eddie Stockton.  The event kicks off the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's Lincoln Center season and is occurring in connection with the world premiere of hip-hop choreographer Rennie Harris' "Exodus," opening Thursday night.

The Lincoln Square Business Improvement District and presenting sponsor Time Warner will host the Fourteenth Annual Winter’s Eve at Lincoln Square – New York’s largest holiday festival! Join Tony Award-winning, Broadway legends Brian Stokes Mitchell and Bebe Neuwirth, Rosie’s Theater Kids, Frank London’s Klezmer Brass All-Stars and WABC-TV’s Sade Baderinwa as we welcome the holiday season and light up the Upper West Side with an evening of music, food, dancing, children’s activities and fun for everyone. There will be food tastings ($1-$4) from over 30 area restaurants and shopping throughout the Lincoln Square area. 

Celebration begins (rain, snow or shine) at 5:30PM with the Upper West Side’s Tree Lighting ceremony at Broadway and 63rd Street. Continues along Broadway from Time Warner Center to 68th Street. Food Tastings officially begin at 6:00-8:30pm.


Winter's Eve at Lincoln Square is a free event.  Attendees are encouraged to bring a gently used or new coat to Dante Park (Broadway & 63rd Street) to support New York Cares - the official charitable partner of Winter's Eve.

Actor James McAvoy ("X-Men: First Class,", "Wanted") will be at Lincoln Center this Wednesday as part of Film Society Lincoln Center's "Free Talks" series discussing his latest role in "Filth," a film based on the novel by Irvine Welsh. "Filth" follows Detective Sergeant Bruce Robertson (McAvoy) -- a bigoted drug and sex addict -- as he strives for a promotion and to win back his wife and daughter.  Tickets are distributed at the box office an hour before the event on a first-come, first-served basis.
