FIGMENT is a free participatory arts event that celebrates creativity by challenging artists and participants to find new ways to create, share, and dream. FIGMENT NYC will take place on Governors Island.

FIGMENT is a free participatory arts event held on Governors Island, acting as a forum for the creation of participatory and interactive art by emerging artists across disciplines. 100% volunteer-powered with no corporate sponsorship, FIGMENT fosters participation between artists and participants through hundreds of interactive art installations throughout Governors Island, challenging visitors to find new ways to create, share, and dream together. Join us for our 11th year of FIGMENT NYC for two days full of joyful expressions of art, play, and interaction.

After The FIGMENT NYC weekend, make sure to visit our Summer-Long Exhibitions from June until August including our Artist Designed Minigolf Course and City of Dreams Pavilion.

FIGMENT began in July 2007 as a free, one-day participatory arts event on Governors Island in New York Harbor with over 2,600 participants. Since then, FIGMENT has grown significantly each year in terms of number of projects, duration, participants, volunteers, fundraising capability, exhibitions, and locations. This year, FIGMENT will host events in twelve cities across the US and abroad!

Experience art in new ways this weekend as FIGMENT NYC takes over Governor's Island. 
Forget those "Please do not touch" signs that permeate museums and galleries - throw out your conceptions that art is only meant to be looked at and really interact with the exhibits.

Check out Governor's Island this Summer for FIGMENT NYC (June 8), Minigolf, City of Dreams Pavilion, Interactive Sculptures and a TreeHouse!

On June 7th and 8th, FIGMENT New York will be kicking off another amazing summer of free art and events on Governors Island in New York Harbor. 

I've been to it in the past and it's really unique and interesting. I remember there was a replica of the head of the Statue of Liberty, and one can literally walk all over it and sit on her nose!

Take the ferry from Manhattan or Brooklyn and enjoy one of New York's best kept secrets, a 30 acre newly-renovated park with panoramic views of they city and the Statue of Liberty. 

FIGMENT NYC will take over the island for FIGMENT NYC Weekend on June 7th and 8th, filling it with participatory art projects in every imaginable medium. 

Visitors to FIGMENT are invited to play minigolf, relax in our City of Dreams Pavilion, explore our interactive sculptures, and play in our TreeHouse all season long.
