Happening Tuesday, January 13th, 2015, from 11:30AM - 3PM, and again from 5PM-9PM.

REPOST from the Gothamist:
Dos Toros, finest purveyor of Bay Area-style burritos in the city (let's fight about it), will tomorrow open its newest location on Park Avenue South. Never again will seriously chill billionaire brahs have to fly to Berkeley for their guac fix, or suffer a seriously busted commute to the Upper East Side or...Battery Park City.
The new location will be the sixth in NYC for the rapidly expanding mini-chain, the first of which opened in Union Square in 2009. As part of the opening celebration, customers can feast upon burritos, platos, quesadillas or a pair of tacos for just a buck between 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. and again from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Dos Toros is based on a similar (though eternally superior*) establishment called Gordo Taqueria in Berkeley, which features brick-sized burritos overflowing with meat, beans, salsa and rice, a signature slice of cheese melted directly onto the dang tortilla. Dos Toros owners, Leo and Oliver Kremer, claim to have patronized Gordo "eight days a week," which sounds about right: Before it opened several nearby outposts of its own in recent years, the line was consistently out the door, even with an abundance of formidable competition nearby.
“I remember the first burrito I ever ate,” Leo told the blog Berkeleyside back in 2011. “My parents weren’t really burrito eaters, but my music friends were really into burritos. I had one, and thought it was good. But then I found I couldn’t stop thinking about it. It is such a subtle cuisine. As you eat it more you learn to appreciate its simplicity.”
The new Dos Toros is located at 295 Park Avenue South between 22nd and 23rd streets. Here is a horrifically cheesy video produced by the brothers that nevertheless makes me want to shove a pile of carnitas into my face right now.

*Limit one item per customer.

Enjoy,
Terresa =)
