31st Street and 8th Avenue, NYC
Online vintage dealer Byronesque has taken its first step off the web with a short-term exhibition and pop-up shop within the abandoned post office near Penn Station. The site deals strictly with vintage that's 20 years or older, and has a penchant for punk and likeminded '70s and '80s subcultures, but with a designer slant (picture lots of primo Vivienne Westwood and Margiela works). If you liked the Met's punk exhibit, you're going to go nuts at this display.
A few highlights include a coat from John Galliano's Les Incroyablesgraduation collection (that one isn't for sale), two multimedia rooms, an army of 40 vintage-clad mannequins to admire, and a boutique stocked with vintage goodies from Comme Des Garçons, Jean Paul Gaultier, Katharine Hamnett, Issey Miyake, and Stephen Sprouse, just to name a few. Click through for a tour of the haunting exhibition, and check it out in person through Sunday, 11am to 8pm daily. (Racked NY)
