Shake Shack's Great American Shake Sale! Get a Shake for Only $2!

5th Annual Great American Shake Sale: Donate $2 to help end childhood hunger. Get a free shake on your next visit!

Give and shake! On Sunday, May 1st, Shake Shack® will kick off its 5th Annual Great American Shake Sale benefiting No Kid Hungry®.
The Great American Shake Sale is a company-wide cause marketing initiative taking place May 1st-31st, 2016, at all U.S. Shake Shacks (excluding stadiums and airports). Its goal is to raise awareness and funds for No Kid Hungry in its effort to end childhood hunger in America, where 1 in 5 kids in America are living in households without consistent access to food.
Throughout May, Shake Shack guests who donate $2 or more to No Kid Hungry will receive a card for a complimentary hand-spun shake — valued at $6.00 — redeemable on their next visit. One hundred percent of donations will benefit No Kid Hungry.
Thanks to the deep generosity of its guests in 2015, Shake Shack surpassed its goal of raising $350,000 by more than $154,000. In doing so, Shake Shack achieved the significant milestone of donating over $1 million to No Kid Hungry in the five years since the Great American Shake Sale began. Shake Shack’s goal for 2016 is to raise an additional $500,000 for No Kid Hungry.
Donations to No Kid Hungry help connect children to the healthy food they need through essential nutrition programs like school breakfast, summer meals and classes that educate low-income families on how to cook healthy, affordable foods. Just $2 can provide kids with 20 meals. If Shake Shack reaches its goal to raise $500,000 this year, that’s 5 million additional meals for hungry children in America.
“As we embark on our 5th Annual Great American Shake Sale, I can only express my sincere gratitude to No Kid Hungry for their work to end childhood hunger and to our guests, who continue to support and surprise us every day,” said Randy Garutti, Shake Shack CEO.
The Great American Shake Sale was inspired by Bake Sale for No Kid Hungry, a national grassroots fundraising initiative started in 2003 that encourages people to host bake sales in their communities to support No Kid Hungry. In the spirit of the bake sale, Shake Shack’s May Custard Calendar is baked goods-inspired. This year’s flavors are Caramel Pretzel, Oatmeal Crème Pie, Red Velvet, Cookies N’ Chocolatey Cream, Brownie Batter and Strawberry Cheesecake. All flavors can be spun into rich and creamy shakes.
“We are thrilled to be celebrating the 5th year of the Great American Shake Sale and five years of partnership with Shake Shack,” said Debbie Shore, co-founder of Share Our Strength, the national nonprofit behind the No Kid Hungry campaign. “The way Shake Shack’s employees and guests embrace and support our work to make sure more kids get every meal, every day, year after year, is proof that committed corporate partners and their passionate customers can change the face of hunger in the U.S.”
Shake Sales are being held internationally, too: The Great Japanese Shake Sale will benefit Hatachi Kikin and Red CrossThe Great Russian Shake Sale will benefit Food Bank RUS; and The Great British Shake Sale will benefit Action Against Hunger.

SHAKE SHACK AND NO KID HUNGRY KICK OFF THE 6th ANNUAL GREAT AMERICAN SHAKE SALE

Shake it forward! On Monday, May 1st, Shake Shack® will kick off its 6th Annual Great American Shake Sale benefiting No Kid Hungry®.
The Great American Shake Sale is a company-wide cause marketing initiative taking place May 1-31, 2017 at most U.S. Shacks. Its goal is to raise awareness and funds for No Kid Hungry, a campaign focused on ending childhood hunger in America. No child should go hungry, but 1 in 6 kids in America are living in households without consistent access to food.
Throughout May, Shake Shack guests who donate $2 or more to No Kid Hungry will receive a card for a complimentary hand-spun shake—valued at $6.00—redeemable on their next visit. Donations will be accepted in-Shack and online athttp://bit.ly/shack-donate-now. 100 percent of donations will benefit No Kid Hungry.
To kick off this year’s Shake Sale, Shake Shack is introducing three new featured shakes, available for a limited time beginning Monday, May 1st:
Brownie Batter: chocolate brownie batter frozen custard blended with fudge sauce, topped with whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles
Cinnamon Dulce De Leche: vanilla frozen custard blended with dulce de leche and cinnamon, topped with whipped cream and cinnamon sugar
Red Velvet Cake: vanilla frozen custard blended with cream cheese-frosted red velvet cake and topped with whipped cream
Thanks to the deep generosity of its guests in 2016, Shake Shack surpassed its goal of raising $500,000 for No Kid Hungry by nearly $100,000. In total, Shake Shack has raised over $1.7 million for No Kid Hungry in the six years since the Great American Shake Sale began. Shake Shack’s goal for 2017 is to raise an additional $500,000 for No Kid Hungry.
Donations to No Kid Hungry help connect children to the healthy food they need through essential nutrition programs like school breakfast, summer meals and classes for low-income families about healthy shopping and home cooking. Just $2 can provide kids with 20 meals. If Shake Shack reaches its goal of raising $500,000 this year, that’s 5 million meals for hungry children in America.
“The Great American Shake Sale has become such a meaningful tradition for the Shake Shack family,” said Randy Garutti, Shake Shack CEO. “No Kid Hungry’s work to end childhood hunger is more important now than ever, and we’re so grateful to team up with them for the sixth consecutive year.”
“The enthusiasm and generosity of the entire Shake Shack community continues to inspire,” said Debbie Shore, co-founder of Share Our Strength. “As we enter our sixth year, I couldn’t be prouder of the partnership we have created and the work we have done to help ensure that more kids have access to healthy food where they live, learn and play. Since the launch of the No Kid Hungry campaign, one-third fewer children are now facing hunger–that’s nearly 3 million fewer children.”
Shake Sales are being held internationally, too: the Great Japanese Shake Sale will benefit Hatachi Kikin; the Great Russian Shake Sale will benefit Food Bank RUS; the Great British Shake Sale will benefit Action Against Hunger; and the Great Korean Shake Sale will benefit Green Fund.

REPOST: SHAKE SHACK IS GIVING AWAY FREE CHEESEBURGERS RIGHT NOW!

HOLLY LISS/COURTESY OF SHAKE SHACK

REPOST FROM THRILLIST.COM:

As you probably know by now, if you want to grab Shake Shack for lunch, you'll have to account for the better burger chain's famously long lines. Well, that could soon change -- at least a little bit -- with the nationwide release of its mobile ordering app on Monday. But even better yet, the chain is handing out free cheeseburgers to celebrate.

Here's the deal:

Starting on Monday, Shake Shack will give you a free single ShackBurger if you download its newly launched mobile ordering app, aptly dubbed the Shack App, create an account, and use the promotional code "shackappy" at checkout for your mobile order. The free burger code is redeemable at Shake Shack restaurants nationwide -- minus its airport, stadium, and ballpark locations -- through February 28th. Of course, you can only use the promo code once.

Shake Shack said ordering via the Shack App will ultimately result in shorter pick up times. The app allows you to select what you want from the menu and choose a pickup time at your local Shake Shack location. Your food will be cooked, ready, and timed to your arrival, according to the company, which first tested the app at select locations last October.
Shorter wait times or not, you'll get a free cheeseburger out of it. You know what to do.
_______
Looks like Android users will have to wait for the app to come out later:

The Android version is still in the works, but we'll let ya know when it's available!

REPOST: Free Shake Shack Burgers!

bbshack.JPG

ShackBurger Double, $7.99 (Scott Lynch/Gothamist)
REPOST FROM http://gothamist.com/:
Shake Shack, the Manhattan-based burger chain founded by Danny Meyer in 2004, is poised to hit a major milestone next week. The company will open their 100th location at Boston's Seaport on Tuesday, August 16th, and to celebrate the occasion they're giving away many, many free meals.
Starting at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, every standalone Shake Shack location will serve up 100 free single-patty ShackBurgers while supplies last. Only stadium and ballpark locations will be exempt from the hamburger free-for-all, which means that you're going to definitely want to check their list of NYC locations and plan for an early lunch (or late breakfast?) break on Tuesday to grab one of the best burgers the five boroughs has to offer.
"From our first-ever Shack in Madison Square Park twelve years ago, to so many incredible places in between, opening our 100th Shack at Boston Seaport is an epic milestone for us," Randy Garutti, CEO of Shake Shack, said in a statement Friday. CNBC reports the burger chain is working to boost sales after a weaker-than-expected same-store sales report was released last week. Following the poor financial status update, Shake Shack stock fell 8 percent.
Enjoy,

Ends 9/1 - REPOST: Shake Shack Unleashes Corn Dogs & Peach Pie Concretes For Labor Day Weekend!

CORNDOGZ14.jpg

Courtesy of Shake Shack
REPOST from the Gothamist:
Starting this Friday, and continuing through Monday September 1st, Shake Shack will be offering up their special edition corn dogs once again (they're only around three times a year: Memorial Day Weekend, July 4th Weekend, and Labor Day Weekend).
To create this meal-on-a-stick, their all-beef hot dogs are "dipped in Shack-made corn batter, cooked golden brown." They're served with Rick's Picks sweet corn relish, and cost $4.50. For dessert? A special edition Peach Pie Oh My Concrete (vanilla frozen custard blended with a slice of delicious Shack-made peach pie), starting at $4.25.
You'll be able to get these two items at every Shake Shack this weekend except for those in ballparks and stadiums. The corn dog will not be available at JFK (where they do offer that amazing breakfast sandwich), however, the Concrete will be. Meanwhile, in Brooklyn’s Flatbush and DUMBO locations only the corn dog will be available. So many rules for a holiday weekend.
And speaking of rules, the National Hot Dog Council says you should never use ketchup on a hot dog... but what about on a corn dog? We reached out to the NHDC and will update when we hear back.
Enjoy,
Terresa =)

RECAP - Orange is the New Black Pies and Free Ice Cream!

Have you had the chance to snag the free pies and ice cream from the "Orange is the New Black" truck yet?

If not, here is what to expect:

This is how the truck looks like! Finger-lickin' good

Hello, cardboard cutout! This was before the rain attacked!

Apparently, this is what they call a "pie"
It looks like an empanada to me, haha

FYI, these are the ingredients in said pie, so make sure you're not allergic to any
Also note that little pie is like 300+ calories
This is how the soft serve cone looks like
It melts extremely quickly even in this cool, rainy weather
Beware of drippin' ice cream down one arm

Oh and it's half vanilla and half chocolate

They have the prison theme going

Looking ahead of the mini line - people will open umbrellas to get freebies

Man, it was such a huge downpour, that the cardboard needed an umbrella!

They were also passing out temporary tattoos

If you plan on checking out the Orange is the New Black truck, you have two more days, - check the locations and schedule here: http://bit.ly/1nxkDPs

And because it was also the last day of Shake Shack's Decade of Shack with their special burgers and it was just right around the corner...

I had to take a peek to see what the rain did to the line.

Looks like this little doggie is headed for the Shack

Alas, the ping pong table is free
Bummer, no one to play with!

There is however a line of folks with their lovely umbrellas
waiting undeterred
I presume this is the shortest line out of the 5 days!

Enjoy,
Terresa =)
