L.A. may have the Oscars, but we think Brooklyn has a better view: join the skint for our second annual FREE screening party of the Academy Awards at Littlefield!
The Oscars have gotten some well-deserved flack this year (#oscarssowhite #oscarssostraight), so we’re anticipating what host Chris Rock lays down about that, along with what we expect will be some off-script gems from presenter Whoopi Goldberg and others.
So, what does free buy you? A red carpet entrance, a glass of champagne (free with RSVP here), freshly-popped popcorn and, of course, the Academy Awards on a big screen! We’ll also have themed drinks based on some of the nominees, a photo booth for you to capture your red carpet glory, and special ballots for you to vote on the winners (most correct picks wins a prize!).
This may be the only year that a patriarchy-smashing epic (Mad Max), the economy (The Big Short), and Catholic priests (Spotlight) are all competing against each other for best picture. Add to that random mix the fact that the Academy might hand The Revenant director Alejandro González Iñárritu his second Oscar in a row, and Sylvester Stallone his first-ever acting award for Creed (aka Rocky 7). Now you’ve got yourself a compelling drama.
So come out to the party for your bubbly buzz, snap a few red carpet selfies, take jabs at the celeb outfits, and debate about which movies and actors got snubbed. Oh, yeah, and find out who won.
RSVP does not guarantee entry. This event is mixed seated/standing. Arrive early to secure a spot. Doors open at 6pm.
