GAMES/ACTIVITIES:

The Games for Change Public Arcade supported by Zynga.org, will take place on Jay St. (between Greenwich St. & Hudson St), a full city block of great games, both digital and physical.
The G4C Arcade celebrates the positive power of play: these games are not only fun, they are also 'games for good' – designed for learning, health, and social impact.   
Among the games to play will be an educational version of the blockbuster hit game Words With Friends, and the NY premiere of The Go Game's Zombie Apocalypse Disaster Preparedness Game where participants can learn practical survival skills while escaping real-world ‘zombies'.
Other offerings include learning games from the SF-based Co.lab incubator, NA3M Games, Global Gaming Initiative and in G4C's Indie Booth games from Elevator Productions, Lamplight Forest and American University’s Games Lab.   Live physical games from Come Out & Play will also be on hand. The G4C Arcade is part of the 12th annual Games for Change Festival, New York City's largest gaming event.

LIVE GAMES OFFERED @ GAMES FOR CHANGE ARCADE:

1 - THE GO GAME PRESENTS: SUPERHEROES VS ZOMBIES
The Go Game will present a free outdoor game at The Tribeca Family Festival using “superheroes vs. zombies” as a narrative to teach kids and their parents basic urban preparedness skills. This game is open to the public, fun for all ages, and players can participate using their personal smartphones.
Game will be played from 12-2 with a interactive finale at 2:30. Participants can sign up in advance here.
2 - COME OUT & PLAY: BRINGING COOKING TO LIFE
Come Out & Play is returning to the public arcade with 4 live-action games that bring cooking to life in fun for the whole family.  Play harried short order cooks, compete to make the perfect stew and bounce your way to smoothie culinary fame.
Games will be offered all day from 10-6:
Høot Patøoter: A foursquare, family-friendly, food fight game played with real produce and a chef (who is Swedish).
Short Order is a fast-paced game about teamwork that gets the whole family playing together. You each play a line chef in one of the craziest kitchens in town. You and your fellow chefs only have a couple of minutes to to serve up as many wacky dishes as you can. Each chef has their own special ingredients, so filling orders depends on quick thinking and great communication. Order up!
Better With Bacon: Everything's better with bacon. Breakfast. Sandwiches. Chocolate chip cookies. Even your parents! But HOW MUCH better? That's up to you. Pile as much bacon as you can on top of your parent. Whoever adds the most, wins!
On Top of Spaghetti: On top of spaghetti, all covered with cheese, you lost your poor meatballs when somebody sneezed. But it’s the dinner rush and the customers are hungry! Can you get the meatballs back onto the spaghetti before the chef at the restaurant next door does? Whoever gets all the meatballs back in the bowls first wins the customers (and the game).

The Foos is the most fun and kid-friendly way to learn about computer programming. Kids bring an exciting virtual world to life by programming cute characters with a 100% visual interface.
CodeMonkey is an online game where children play and learn to code in a real programming language. Players solve challenges in order to advance over the linear path of the game, while gradually picking up the essence of real coding – from the fundamentals to advanced topics!
Mathbreakers is an immersive RPG in a 3D world made of numbers. Every kid becomes a math warrior in our game, gaining super powers as they battle and outsmart number monsters and take down mathematical fortresses. Kids level up their characters by collecting cool math gadgets like the mighty division sword or multiplication ray, and wield them to create powerful numbers for zeroing out the enemy. Mathbreakers empowers kids to take charge of their own learning experience and helps them overcome math anxiety and build confidence. The game is Common Core aligned for grades K­6. Kids compare it to Minecraft for math!
StoryToys will be presenting their award-winning collection of apps for families and young children including  My Very Hungry Caterpiller - an exploration inside the illustrated world of Eric Carle and Elmo Loves You - a pop-up story book featuring your favorite Sesame Street characters.
Piper is a toolbox for budding engineers that allows them to create and tinker with electronics by playing Minecraft.
Global Gaming Initiative is a mobile gaming company which converts your play time into tangible social impact. Visit them at the Games for Change Arcade to play any of their three featured games (specified below), create a video with you as the star character in one of their titles and contribute to their quest to make the world a better place via games.

The award-winning gaming and transmedia incubator NA3M (HQ in Amman, Jordan) is bringing Middle Eastern flair to G4C's Public Arcade, showcasing exciting interactive games inspired by Arab culture. For all-ages there will be NA3M's adventure games Run Camel Run - an 80s style retro-runner across the Arabian skyline, Caravan Master and Caravan Master Adventures - an adventure game in which you explore fantasy worlds and trade your way across ancient cities, avoiding perils and collecting rewards along the way. For language learners there's Kalimat (Arabic for Words) and Yalla Huroof (Arabic for Let’s go!) which have re-invigorated language learning both in schools and at home as they challenge players of all abilities to interact and learn Arabic letters and words in inventive new ways.
THE G4C INDIEBOOTH
This year’s public arcade will feature the first ever Games for Change IndieBooth - a shared tent space dedicated to small independent developers making a big impact with gameplay. The G4C IndieBooth will feature:
AMERICAN UNIVERSITY GAME LAB: The American University Game Lab will show a collection of games made by students and faculty including a math education game, an affection game, a newsgame and an art game.
HABITAT THE GAME: Adopt your very own virtual polar bear, take him fishing, give him love and keep him alive by undertaking environmental challenges. Also trade virtual pins with other players with 150 locations across the globe. Habitat the Game is available to download for free on all iOS, Android and tablet devices at iTunes and Google Play.
PALLAS OF VINES: Pallas of Vines is a game about creative performance, where players can make and transform music and visuals inside a lush world. Players are invited to pick up an iPhone and use the tilt sensor as a remote control to move through the game, discovering how their movements can affect the sights and sounds around them.              
COMMON SENSE MEDIA
Common Sense offers a suite of educational games and tools to promote digital literacy and citizenship for kids and families.  We are excited to be presenting our newest educational game, Digital Compass. A choose your own adventure interactive experience where kids can explore digital dilemmas, make good (and no-so-good) decisions, and try out possible solutions through stories and mini-games, all without risking their real-world reputations.
