Northeast destinations like New York City and Boston are great for deals in December and January, when the cold keeps many visitors at bay. But if that doesn’t convince you to visit, how about a free tour for two?

Just in time for the yuletide season, the Holiday Lights & Movie Sites Tour in NYC ($38 each) takes groups to some of the top department store window displays in the city and to places where popular holiday movies were filmed. Of course, there’s also a stop at Rockefeller Center to see the most famous tree of them all. The tour runs Thursdays through Sundays, through January 1.
All other months, popular Big Apple options include the New York TV & Movie Sites Tour ($43), which brings silver and small screen lovers to the Tiffany & Co. featured in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, the famous Macy’s in Herald Square, the apartment facade from Friends, and more. Other itineraries zero in on specific areas of the city, highlighting scenes from Seinfeld and Home Alone 2, or are themed around hit shows like Sex and the City, The Sopranos, and Gossip Girl.
Over in Boston, visitors have their pick of two tours: the Boston TV & Movie Sites Tour and the Boston Movie Mile ($25-$41). When you go on the former, you’ll make a trip to a number of big-name locales like Fenway Park, and see filming locations from Cheers, The Departed, Good Will Hunting, The Town, and more. The latter tour will whisk you away through Boston Common and the Beacon Hill neighborhood for a peek at more than 30 film sites.
How to Enter One lucky reader will be treated to two tickets to a tour of their choice in either New York City or Boston. The winner will receive a gift certificate that doesn’t expire — which means you can choose year-round dates. (The exceptions are January to mid-March for a few tours. The Boston tours and NYC’s Central Park tour take a break during this period.)
