Summer is the perfect season for families to spend time together— the kids are home from school, and high school grads are preparing to begin their college experiences. Here are three ideas to help families prepare for a day with the youngsters, a birthday for the teen and a celebration for the grad while taking advantage of the Grand Central Rewards.
If you're planning to do some shopping for Father's Day or the like, why not get some extra free goodies with the purchase?
NOTE: In addition to Grand Central Rewards, the Terminal also has a special offers book available for shoppers, which can be picked up at the Station Master’s Office, Tourism Booth or the Information Booth in the Main Concourse. You can find the list of special offers here
Shopper Loyalty Program. Shoppers who purchase at least $50 worth of goods in all four zones of the Terminal before June 16 can receive limited edition Grand Central Terminal-branded, summer-themed gifts while supplies last.
· Summer fun with the little one: Parents and kids can kick off the summer season with some putt-putt golf in their backyard or on the sidewalk. Visitors can purchase a set from Kidding Around Toys ($19.99) and show off their swing. When the kids work up an appetite, take them to Two Boots Pizza for their acclaimed pizza or spaghetti and meatballs ($10.95/person) followed by Li-Lac Chocolates for Kiddie Pops (65 cents each). Those who are looking for a quiet evening can make summer reading more exciting with Flora & Ulysses by Kate DiCamillo from Posman Books ($17.99). By spending a minimum of $50, shoppers can receive the Grand Central Reward of two GCT-branded pint glasses.
· For the teen or tween with a summer birthday: For the teen turning a year older, families can try a new theme party, like a tennis party. The Vanderbilt Tennis Club offers private and semi-private lessons (please call for prices). Parents can buy the birthday boy a gift card to the Apple Store ($15-$100) or the birthday girl some bright summery jewelry from Tia’s Place ($10-$15). For food, a stop at Eli Zabar’s Bread & Pastry for chocolate babka ($18), or a visit to Shake Shack ($4.75) can quell any teenager’s hunger.Spending a minimum of $100 to prep for a birthday will earn shoppers a limited-edition beach towel—also a great birthday gift for the summer.
· Congrats, grads! Older kids are out of school, too! Families can find the perfect graduation celebration at Grand Central Terminal. If the grad hasn’t turned the tassel yet, a gift set from Aveda can prepare them for the big day ($20-$50). For families who are already celebrating, a semi-private or private dining room can be reserved at Michael Jordan’s The Steak House N.Y.C. to enjoy the “cut of the night” steak ($30). Party planning is easier with Zaro’s Bakery, where they can customize a cake with the grad’s favorite frosting and filling (from $19.95). And of course, what’s graduation without flowers? A surprise bouquet from Dahlia ($15) is always a welcomed gift. Spending a minimum of $150 to prep for a graduation celebration will earn shoppers a free insulated tote bag.
Grand Central Rewards is available through June 16. To earn the pint glasses, beach towel and insulated tote bag, shoppers must spend a minimum of $50 and buy at least one item in each of four Terminal shopping zones. Shoppers who spend a minimum of $250 can earn all three rewards. To pick up the limited-edition items, shoppers must redeem their receipts at the Biltmore Room on select dates. To view these dates, please visit www.grandcentralterminal.com/ grandcentralrewards
Shoppers can redeem their prizes in the Biltmore Room (across from Track 42) on June 16th. If someone shops after June 16th, they can email info@grandcentralterminal.com to schedule a time to redeem their prize, but it must be redeemed by June 20th at 2PM.Happy Father's Day Weekend and happy shopping at Grand Central Terminal!
