Earth Day Book Swap!
BK Swappers
Sunday, April 19, 2015 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM (EDT)
Join us at the first-ever book swap at the Earth Day New York events in Union Square! This spring’s Earth Day New York events will include a sharing/collaborative economy exhibition that will allow the public to learn more about the opportunities presented by the sharing/collaborative economy.
As part of that exhibition, Earth Day New York, BK Swappers, and other organizations are putting together a book swap, giving people an opportunity to share with others books that were important to them, talk to other people who are passionate about the sharing/collaborative economy, and kick off Earth Week outside!
The book swap will take place in Union Square in the alcove along Union Square West, just north of E. 15th Street.
How does the swap work?
For each book you bring, you get to take one from the swap area. We will give you one ticket for each book that we accept for the swap. Each ticket can be used to take any other book from the swap area! Come early to drop off your books, hang out to see what shows up, and stay to chat with fellow swappers.

What can I bring to swap?
Books must be in good condition and must be used. One of the key ideas behind the swap is to emphasize the sustainability aspect of the sharing/collaborative economy as it allows us to share and conserve resources. Bring books that made an impact on you. If you love to cook, bring one of your favorite cookbooks that you think someone else would enjoy! If you loved Catcher in the Rye in school, bring your old copy to share with a new reader.

How many books can I bring to swap?
Each person can bring up to five (5) books to swap. Books left at the end of the swap will be donated to Housing Works Bookstore Cafe.

What if it rains on the day of the event?
Unfortunately, if it is raining during the scheduled time of the swap we will have to cancel, as we’ll be in an outdoor and uncovered space.

Registration is free and open to everyone.
You do not have to register to bring a book to swap, but we'd love a general headcount.
