11/1/13 Fri Sephora grand opening with giftcard giveaways!

Halloween might just have passed, but looks like there can still be some more trick-or-treating left to do.
Sephora is opening a new store on Friday, November 1st! The first 100 on the line get giftcards ranging from $10 to $1000. There will also be makeup tutorials, DJs and giveaways. The store will open starting at 8am.

Can't make it on Friday? Fear not, the festivities repeat again on Saturday starting at 9am, as well as workshops on color palettes by Katherine Bernhardt from 11am-3pm and how to make original collaged artwork by artist Hisham Bharoocha from 4pm-8pm.

Original artwork from five Brooklyn-based artists, including Mickalene Thomas and Keegan McHargue, will be on display throughout the store (watch the below video to learn more).

The company is also giving away a tote bag designed specifically for Sephora Brooklyn featuring artwork by illustrator Gary Panter. BK Creatives will be running the DJ set, and Morris Kitchen will be providing snack and coffee to customers, rounding out the collection of Brooklyn businesses and artists.

The new Sephora is located at 210 Joralemon Street, in BK, thankfully not too down south! ;)

This post will cover the goodies that are snaggable. They are all within walking distance from the  F/J/M line at the Delancey/Essex Street stop.

1. Melt Ice Cream Sandwiches, 132 Orchard Street, the giveaways are mini ice sandwiches consisting of peach ice cream sandwiched between two cookies. They come in a rotation of flavors, check site for deets.

They're worth $2.50 a pop. The large ones are $4. They don't melt all over you, though you might want to let it thaw a bit before taking a bite.

2. Pop Karma, 95 Orchard Street, all natural gourmet organic popcorn that comes in both classic and seasonal flavors and popped fresh daily. You can sample them before you make up your mind.

I recommend eating them fresh when it comes out pipping warm from the oven because when it cools it loses its crunchiness. Ie. Like it got soaked in the rain.

Seasonal flavors include my fav flavor, the Kyoto mix (miso+seaweed), the Pumpkin Spice Caramel (sweet tasting) and Porcini Cheddar (salty)

The smallest bag size called Karma Shot is either $2 or $2.25, the latter price applies to the Kyoto mix and Pumpkin Spice flavors.

3. Tache Artisan Chocolate - 254 Broome Street, the chocolates are handmade from the finest ingredients without artificial colorings, flavorings, or additives. They are so definitely too pretty to eat! The chocolate shop/lounge also has chocolate making classes for you to learn and make your own chocolates to take home!

Each chocolate masterpiece would normally cost $2.50 a piece and the glitter on it is actually edible!

4. Last, but not least is the boozy cupcakes! They're a little bit bigger than Melissa's, but you can definitely taste the alcohol, but maybe not get drunk from them.

Oct 25th Uniqlo Opens New Store at Atlantic Terminal BK and Pop-Up in Union Square!

Beginning mid-month, Uniqlo will open a pop-up store within the Union Square subway station. Located at the east end of the station, the temporary store will sell winter gear including the brand's $50 puffer jackets and HeatTech layers. Huge perk: every purchase earns a free $5 MetroCard. The pop up is open through Christmas.  

Also be on the lookout for the Atlantic Terminal's Uniqlo grand opening on the 25th for giveaways and deals.

Update: 10/24/13, the Uniqlo at Atlantic Terminal is opening at 10am tomorrow with Free limited edition tote bags, promotional items and special live performances. The celebrations continue throughout the weekend.

Sometimes my most recent posts do not appear on the first page of my blog when it is published. This is something for those who don't have access to my walls to be particularly aware of. I noticed that this usually happens when I draft up entries but don't publish immediately. Just a headups!

For those of you who are new to my blog, I have a calendar of cool events tab which displays and links to upcoming event postings in a monthly, weekly and agenda format, so you don't have to go crazy looking through the entries. If you're viewing my blog on a smartphone, you can easily access the calendar, by tapping on the "Home" button and a dropdown menu will show "contacts/social media" and " Calendar of cool events" selections.

If that doesn't work, you can choose the desktop view and either click on that tab at the top or scroll all the way down to the bottom of the blog for the calendar!

Well, if you have to do it anyway, let's swipe some change into your pocket.  Locket's the name of the Android app that pays you for unlocking your phone.  By downloading the app, you basically rent out your lock screen to brands.  With one swipe, you can either open the ad, or unlock your phone the way you always do.
