REPOST: Free Shake Shack Burgers!

bbshack.JPG

ShackBurger Double, $7.99 (Scott Lynch/Gothamist)
REPOST FROM http://gothamist.com/:
Shake Shack, the Manhattan-based burger chain founded by Danny Meyer in 2004, is poised to hit a major milestone next week. The company will open their 100th location at Boston's Seaport on Tuesday, August 16th, and to celebrate the occasion they're giving away many, many free meals.
Starting at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, every standalone Shake Shack location will serve up 100 free single-patty ShackBurgers while supplies last. Only stadium and ballpark locations will be exempt from the hamburger free-for-all, which means that you're going to definitely want to check their list of NYC locations and plan for an early lunch (or late breakfast?) break on Tuesday to grab one of the best burgers the five boroughs has to offer.
"From our first-ever Shack in Madison Square Park twelve years ago, to so many incredible places in between, opening our 100th Shack at Boston Seaport is an epic milestone for us," Randy Garutti, CEO of Shake Shack, said in a statement Friday. CNBC reports the burger chain is working to boost sales after a weaker-than-expected same-store sales report was released last week. Following the poor financial status update, Shake Shack stock fell 8 percent.
Enjoy,

Experience Samsung's New Flagship: Samsung 837!

POSTED 4/3/16 @ 1:18 PM PST

"Social Galaxy," an installation by Black Egg, is currently featured in Samsung 837's gallery. Kristina Monllos

You might remember the good old days of the Samsung Galaxy Studio popup turned retail store that recently closed - read my post here and see all the related events and happenings that have occurred in the space.

As we mourn the lost of one of our favorite spots in SoHo, get excited for the recently opened Samsung 837, the flagship located in the Meatpacking District.

There are a lot of exciting interactives including a virtual reality tunnel, "Social Galaxy" installation by Black Egg, a cool pic collage, performances and events!

You will leave with a great experience, lots of instagramables!
It definitely does not feel like just a store.

Come and check it out at:

Samsung 837
837 Washington Street

New York, NY

Hours:
Monday – Friday 11am – 9pm
Saturday 10am – 10pm
Sunday 10am – 8pm

What’s the story?
We’re Samsung 837, and we’re open for everything. For art, for music, for sport—and for the magic that happens when culture and technology come together under the same roof.
Our most innovative devices are only part of the story. We’re here to show off the experiences they unlock, and the people and places they connect us to.

What's Inside
Doing things differently is our thing, which is why we’re not calling ourselves a “store” or a “showroom.”

The Highlights
Walk in. Look up. Our larger-than-life screen (like, three stories larger-than-life) is surrounded by stadium seating—and it’s where we’ll host screenings, demo products and live-stream cultural events.

Events
From album launch parties to runners’ clubs to meet-and-greets. Check back often for details on upcoming and recent events.

Workshops
We will break down our connected devices in non-boring ways, with workshops that feel less like school and more like a bunch of people hanging out.

Service
We have a support station full of experts that will help you get the most out of your Samsung devices, whether your screen is cracked, you are setting up a new phone, or are looking for one on one instruction on cool new features.

More Info Here!

Have a blast at Samsung 837! And tell me what you think in the comments section below.

The Olympics are here! Samsung 837 is streaming the games live on 3 floor tall screens - come enjoy the excitement while you experience all that Samsung has to offer.

You can also use virtual reality (VR) at Samsung 837 to view 360 views of the Olympic games in action!

And two simulations using VR - including a roller coaster ride (it feels so real!) and a surfing experience on a surf board!

Summer Streets is Almost Here Again!

Summer Streets 2016

On the first three consecutive Saturdays in August, nearly seven miles of New York City’s streets are opened to the public to play, run, walk and bike. Learn more

Summer Streets is an annual celebration of New York City's most valuable public space—our streets. Summer Streets provides space for healthy recreation and encourages New Yorkers to use more sustainable forms of transportation. In 2015, nearly 300,000 people took advantage of the open streets. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, August 6, 13 and 20 between the hours of 7 am and 1 pm.

Summer Streets extends from the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park, along Park Avenue and connecting streets, with easy access from all points in New York City, allowing participants to plan a trip as long or short as they wish. All activities at Summer Streets are free of charge, and designed for people of all ages and ability levels to share the streets respectfully.

Check out the activities here!

The nearly 300-foot water slide will be at Vita Coco Beach in Foley Square (111 Worth St.), and you can register now for a time slot this Saturday (make sure to arrive at least half an hour early). Or mark your calendar: Time slots for Aug. 13 open on Aug. 8, and for Aug. 20 on Aug. 15. Once you've taken your turn, relax in a hammock in the (real!) sand on the beach below, or play a round of cornhole.

Be sure to stop by one of these Citi Vending machines and see what you win by using your social media!

See if you can beat the Olympics record times by running the track and see how you compare in time!

Happy Summer Streets - Have fun!

FREE Food and Drinks as You "Work from the Park Day"!

REPOSTED FROM METRO.US

Work from the Park' in Brooklyn on Friday

Enjoy NYC parks and don't miss the workday sunshine with Wi-Fi at Brooklyn Bridge Park

If you’re sick of watching the summer days go by from your office window – if you’re lucky enough to sit near a window – the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and AT&T have teamed up to offer an “outdoor workspace” in DUMBO on Friday.
Bring your laptop or other wireless device, grab a workstation at Fulton Ferry Landing at Pier 1 in Brooklyn Bridge Park (enter via Old Fulton Street at Furman Street) during “Work from the Park Day” and grub on some free eats from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Amenities will include communal work tables, high counters, low benches and two tented areas for shade. Free food and drinks will be provided by local vendors: Lizzmonade (lemonade, iced tea, iced coffee), Ample Hills Creamery (ice cream) and Brooklyn Bridge Garden Bar (sliders).

Enjoy,
Terresa :)
Can’t make it on Friday? Brooklyn Bridge Park is only one of about two dozen Wi-Fi hotspots in NYC parks with free Wi-Fi available 24/7. To check out any battery charging port or free Wi-Fi area in the city – even if you don’t use AT&T as your carrier – head to AT&T’s wireless map online.
"AT&T is always pushing our technology to serve consumers in new, innovative ways, and that includes reimagining how New Yorkers will want to work, live and play in the 21st century,” said Marissa Shorenstein, president of AT&T, New York. "By launching New York City's first-ever outdoor workspace in DUMBO, a rising tech hub, we are also looking to see if New Yorkers will choose to work in our city’s parks if AT&T can make all of the amenities of an office available to them – and with the added bonus of a better view.
"We hope New Yorkers will come out to Pier 1 on Friday and take advantage of this new, innovative opportunity by getting their work done, soaking up some sun and enjoying our free refreshments."
AT&T Street Charge units were introduced in 2013 in response to power and connection issues New Yorkers experienced in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, the Parks Department said in May. The solar-powered units operate in all weather conditions and are available throughout the summer and fall in the five boroughs.
The Free Wi-Fi in the Parks initiative, launched in 2011, has been extended for another five years.
“The renewal of our partnership with AT&T, expanding free Wi-Fi and charging stations to more of our parks this summer and fall, furthers Parks’ commitment to utilizing technology to serve parkgoers citwide,” NYC Parks Commissioner Mitchell J. Silver previously said.
